Karimikui Factory

Established in 1997, Karimikui is operated by the Rungeto Farmers Co-operative Society in Kirinyaga County and named after a local tree. It works with around 600 smallholders farming the fertile red volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya, where coffee grows alongside bananas, maize, macadamia and Grevillea. At 1,600–1,750 metres, cool temperatures and steady rainfall slow cherry maturation and lend the exceptional clarity Kirinyaga is known for.
