Not saying you need this coffee, but we would be remiss to not Pear Pressure you into it. This is everything you want in a Kenyan. The cup opens with a lively cola sweetness, then soft poached pear rolls through the middle. Rich plum jam brings the depth, and a delicate rooibos tea note carries a long, refined finish. This is what Kenya does best — grown by the Rugi co-op's 700-odd smallholder farmers on red volcanic soils, 1,650 metres up, pulped with water from the Sagana River and dried slow on raised tables. We've roasted this one for filter — it only gets juicier as it cools.
